Level 3 certificate in counselling studies

Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (CST-L3)

Train Integratively. Think Broadly. Prepare Professionally.

Our Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies is designed for learners who have completed level 2 (or equivelant) counselling skills training and want to deepen their theoretical understanding before progressing to practitioner level.

At Cedars Therapy Institute, we teach from an integrative perspective — supporting you to understand counselling through multiple theoretical lenses rather than limiting you to a single approach.

This course builds strong foundations in theory, ethics, reflective practice and professional awareness, preparing you for further training and future client work.

Our Integrative Approach

Unlike many Level 3 courses that focus primarily on one model, we introduce you to key counselling approaches including:

  • Person-Centred

  • Psychodynamic

  • Cognitive Behavioural concepts

  • Systemic thinking

You will explore how these models:

  • Understand client experience differently

  • Complement and contrast with one another

  • Inform ethical and thoughtful practice

This broader understanding supports flexibility in thinking and prepares you more effectively for Level 4 practitioner training.

What You’ll Develop

During this course you will:

  • Strengthen your understanding of the counselling relationship

  • Deepen your awareness of ethics, boundaries and professional responsibility

  • Explore difference and diversity in counselling work

  • Develop understanding of mental health presentations (description and signposting, not diagnosis)

  • Build reflective and critical thinking skills

  • Grow in self-awareness and professional identity

This is an academic and reflective course designed to stretch your thinking in a supportive group environment.
